Wild Goose Chase December 17, 2017

Welcome to “The Wild Goose Chase!” The Celtic Christians called the Holy Spirit “The Wild Goose” because it was untamed and smarter than any other bird.

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

I watched her speak softly to her Momma, having her lean forward, rubbing her back. Time was running out and everyone knew it. I know her, she is my friend, I do not know her Momma or her family well, but I watched, I listened and I heard the angels singing in my heart as they began the process of turning loose, allowing their Momma to begin to move towards God's warm and loving embrace. It was heart wrenching, but I did not cry until I was back in my truck.

That morning visit made me think ... what does it matter who is right or wrong when an argument comes between family? Why should there be jealousy or anger or un-forgiveness between people who share common family and background? It’s not what God intends for us. In fact, God wants family to be special so badly, that God adopted us as God's own!

Oh I know, there are people who are pretty much impossible to be family with, people who take and never give, people who hurt and never love ... but what a difference it would make if we all could do as my friend did!

So I challenge you ... today, this week, find that special someone ... relative, significant other, friend of the heart, and speak softly to them, rub their back a bit, figuratively or literally, but simply be a comfort to them for a few minutes. And, when you look at them, try not to see the flaws, but instead see the beauty with which their Creator infused them, lift each other in love, respect and, always comforting ... for we never know when the time will come to turn that special someone loose and allow God to have them in heaven.
Colossians 3:12-14 New Revised Standard Version "12 As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. 13 Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony."

Who am I talking about? Well ... she knows ... and so does God!

Shared with love and care through our loving God ....  Remember, God loves you and so do I, and there is nothing you can do about it, except love back.
