Wild Goose Chase November 26, 2017

Welcome to “The Wild Goose Chase!” The Celtic Christians called the Holy Spirit “The Wild Goose” because it was untamed and smarter than any other bird.

Dear Sisters and Brothers: October 31 was the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation as Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the door of the church at Wittenberg, Germany. He challenged the church hierarchy of his day, called Christians back to the Bible and to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus alone.

I was thinking about that recently. And, as is my habit, I did a little exploring and found this quote by Leonard Sweet, Pastor and Professor, author of many wonderful works on our Christian religion and on how God works in and through us. In so doing, I came across the following quote by Dr. Sweet: The Protestant Reformation was a reformation of the Word. The New Reformation is a reformation of The Spirit.”

Luke 3:16: “John answered all of them by saying, “I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

Perhaps it is time to seek that Reformation of the Spirit and offer Thanksgiving to Father, Son and Holy Spirit for the Good News of Christ Jesus in our lives!

Just remember, God loves you and so do I, and all you can do about it is love back!

Still In One Peace,

Stephen
